Summary of School: Holbrook Indian School (HIS) is located in Holbrook, AZ; 20 miles south of the Navajo Reservation. HIS is a 1-12 boarding school operated by the Pacific Union Conference. We are an innovative, dynamic, spiritual team of dedicated educators and administrators working to meet the individual needs of Native Americans.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Report to Business Manager (supervisor) and work with the Business Manager to develop reliable financial reports for the school’s budget, administrators and meetings (e.g. Principal, Board Meeting, Local Management Committee).

  • Member of the Local Management Committee.

  • Assist with preparation for financial audits & support during the audits.

  • Oversee and maintain complete account cycle (e.g. daily inputs, month-end closing/reports, plant asset, endowments, fiscal year-end closing). Maintain & reconcile petty cash, bank accounts, A/R & A/P and agency accounts in the accounting system (AASI).

  • Process A/R & A/P transactions (e.g. deposits/disbursements, tuition/rent payments, Payroll, Journal Voucher [JV] entries).

  • Complete payroll process (e.g. input JV & account for hours and salaries). Input financial/billing information in Bloomerang payment management system. Perform other duties as assigned (e.g. inventory of keys, vehicle operations, student supervision duties).

Candidates must be members in good standing of the Seventh-dayAdventist Church and will be subject to a background check. Candidates must possess the legal right to work in the United States and may be subject to a trial period.


Education/Experience: Bachelor degree in accounting; or in a related field (e.g. business

administration, finance); OR, Combination of 4 years education & experience in accounting.

Preference given to SDA account/auditing experience.

HIS wages/benefits are based on the North American Division Wage Scale and the Pacific Union Conference Education Code; the Accountant is a full-time hourly position (38 to 40 hours per week) and wages will be determined based on experience. CPA certification assistance.
