Food Service Director
The Food Service Director provides leadership and oversight for the school’s food service program, ensuring the planning and delivery of nutritious, balanced meals that support student wellness. This role manages daily kitchen operations, supervises staff and student workers, ensures compliance with food safety regulations, and maintains a welcoming dining environment for students and staff.
The Food Service Director collaborates closely with Administration on budgeting, inventory management, and special events. This position also supports school-wide programs and events, contributes to committees, and actively models the mission and values of the institution.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong leadership and organizational skills, with the ability to manage kitchen operations, supervise staff, and maintain efficient workflows. They possess knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, menu planning, and inventory control, along with the flexibility to accommodate dietary needs and special events. Clear communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills are essential. The ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and foster a positive, service-oriented dining environment allow for a deep alignment with the school’s mission.
The physical requirements of this role are included but not limited to: indoor and outdoor labor, standing for prolonged periods, exposure to varying weather, and lifting up to 50 lbs. This is a full time, 10-month salaried position which compensates according to the qualifications and experience of the candidate. Candidates must have a valid driver's license in good standing and be team players, supervise a variety of skill levels, and provide excellence in their department. This position reports to the Business Manager and is open until filled.

Registrar & Librarian
The Registrar & Librarian Dual role supports the academic mission of the school by overseeing student records, enrollment processes, and academic reporting while maintaining an organized, welcoming school library that promotes curiosity and learning. This role ensures accurate recordkeeping, confidentiality, and compliance with school and accreditation requirements.
The Registrar & Librarian collaborates closely with Administration, Staff, and Parents to support enrollment, scholarship coordination, and a variety of reporting processes. This position also contributes to school-wide programs, committees, and events in order to actively support and model the mission and values of the institution.
The ideal candidate demonstrates strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities with accuracy and discretion. They possess experience or aptitude in school administration, database and records management, and library operations. In addition to this, the successful candidate leads themselves with clear communication, strategic problem-solving, and efficient time management skills. A love of service independently and collaboratively are essential for success in this role and alignment with the school’s Christ-centered mission.
The physical requirements of this role include, but are not limited to, prolonged sitting, walking throughout campus, fine motor use, lifting materials up to 40 pounds, and working in varying indoor and outdoor conditions. This is a full-time, hourly position operating under an at-will employment agreement, with compensation based on qualifications and experience. The Registrar & Librarian reports to the Principal, and the position is open until filled.

Development Assistant
Summary: The Development Assistant plays a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the development team. This position will assist with school visibility, volunteer coordination, event planning, alumni relations, and planned giving efforts. The successful team member is organized, proactive, and leads with a strong customer service mindset.
Key Responsibilities
Attends conferences and camp meetings with and/or in place of the Development Director as an exhibitor to create increased school visibility and engage current and potential donors and volunteers.
Networks with community organizations and individuals for volunteer opportunities at HIS.
Networks with community organizations and individuals to coordinate school service projects for students.
Assists in coordinating and supervising outside volunteer groups on campus.
Assists in coordinating student mission projects.
Leads tours for donors and campus visitors as needed, providing a welcoming and informative experience.
Manages a Planned Giving program under the direction of the Development Director, including creating digital and printed Planned Giving content.
Communicates effectively with the Development Associate to maintain accurate and up-to-date donor records in the CRM/database (e.g., Bloomerang).
Supports logistics for fundraising events, alumni events, and donor outreach initiatives.
Creates and distributes alumni communications, including thank-you letters, email acknowledgments, event information, and stewardship updates.
Other Duties
Maintain a clean, well-organized, and safety-compliant work environment.
Serve on assigned school committees and actively contribute to the mission and vision of the institution.
Participate in school events, worships, assemblies, staff meetings, faculty families, and professional development programs as assigned.
Promote critical thinking and problem-solving skills within a Christian framework.
Communicate regularly and professionally with students, staff, and guardians.
Ensure student safety and uphold all organizational expectations as outlined in the Staff and Student Handbooks.
Model a personal relationship with Jesus Christ through lifestyle, conduct, and active church participation.
Qualifications
2–3 years of experience in fundraising, professional communication, event management, or similar fields.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.
Ability to handle sensitive donor, financial, and organizational information with confidentiality and professionalism.
Customer service mindset and ability to work collaboratively.
Passion for HIS vision and alignment with our mission and values.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
Experience with CRM platforms (e.g., Bloomerang).
Basic understanding of fundraising principles and donor lifecycle.
Physical Requirements and Considerations: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Candidates must be able to:

Walk up to one mile a day in varying terrain
Lift or move items over 40 pounds above shoulder height
Vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus
Frequent fine motor use of hands and fingers
Stamina in a variety of weather conditions while both on and off the facility grounds, eg. heat over 100 degrees, cold below 30 degrees, high winds, heavy rain, snow etc.

Background
HIS is an accredited first- through 12th-grade boarding school operated directly by the Pacific Union Conference. As such, faculty and staff members receive remuneration and benefits according to the policies employed by all schools in the Pacific Union. As in many other SDA boarding schools, employees live in on-campus housing. The average student population at HIS is 72 students, split evenly between first through eighth and ninth through twelfth grades.
